Polyethylene

Expanded polyethylene foam is produced in sheet form, by conventional foaming methods without the use of CFCs, by a number of manufacturers and then converted by ourselves for use in packaging. Polyethylene foam is manufactured under a number of trade names such as Ethafoam, Jiffycell, Plastazote, Stratocell, Nopaplank, Nomafoam and Zotefoam. Each has it's own characteristics and price/performance calculation. If you are using our Design Service we will recommend the best material for your application, but will also happily quote for an existing application where you specify the material yourself. Polyethylene has additional physical properties which normally give a higher level of protective cushioning than either polystyrene or corrugated fittings.
Polyethylene foam is a resilient material with superior physical properties for cushioning and barrier applications. By using our design capabilities, high performance cushioning and protective packs can be produced for light, medium and heavy duty applications. Less foam results in smaller packs resulting in reduced material and transport charges. Because we can design, sample and manufacture corrugated cardboard outers at the same time as the foam, we can produce a pack optimised for the customer design specification. This means that neither part of the packaging is either under or over specified, which can happen if different companies specify separate elements of the pack.
Foam packaging plays an important role in the global endeavour to reduce packaging waste, by providing a true multi‑trip solution for transit packaging, both as case inserts and dunnage. The high energy absorbent nature of these foams means that less thickness is needed for protection - smaller packs means less storage space requirement and better transport volume utilisation.
We can provide testing facilities for your product in our proposed packaging and certificate the pack design. We can produce packaging by moulding, pressing, hot wire cutting, CNC profiling, die cutting, fabricating or by a combination of any of these processes.
By producing cartons as well as fittings we simplify design, sample making, ordering and accounting and in addition we provide award winning service.
As well as packaging polyethylene foam is used for tote boxes, case inserts, floatation, aerospace, athletic equipment, spacers, point of sale displays, and appliances.
