Polyurethane

Conventional Polyester based polyurethane [PU]  products,  are available in a wide range of densities. The purpose of flexible polyurethane foam in packaging is to act as a shock absorber, usually for delicate electronic components.

The physical performance of Polyurethane foam can be fine-tuned to meet most packaging needs.

In packaging specific uses are for electronics, printed circuit boards, case inserts and jewellery. Grades are available for heavier duty applications, particularly reconstituted chip foam, made from 100% recycled foam.

For particular requirements it is available in anti-static and conductive grades.

It is also available in profile or “egg box” form where it is ideal when one pack can cover a variety of products or to pack printed circuit boards - without having to design tailor-made packs.

It is often used in the production of case inserts, where it's ability to be easily formed to provide attractive, purpose designed and long lasting fittings is important. Profile foam can be used for part or all of the fittings, giving great flexibility in design and application. It is ideal for tool control cases, particularly where two colours can be combined so as to highlight missing tools.
